One of our favorite verses is Isaiah 42:10. “Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who live in them.”

The past four years have gone by so fast. Thank you so much for partnering with us while we serve Fiji. We are looking forward to returning to the States and sharing with you what God has been doing in Fiji.

Here is one of our freshmen (Daniel) using a small Gideon Bible he brought to school.

In our last newsletter, we gave you some prayer requests. Thank you for your prayers!! God has provided our house. We will be living in Lebanon, Oregon, after traveling through the States this summer.

Please continue to pray for us as we look for the right vehicle. The need is for a minivan or car that will hold 5 with luggage; about 60,000 miles will be driven so we are looking for a reliable vehicle.

As we are preparing to return to the States, there is need on the campus of SPBC. There has been limited transportation since Sept. last year. The school’s carrier has been sitting in the shop. Because it is no longer a STL vehicle, we cannot use STL monies for repairs. $4000 is needed to purchase and install a rebuilt engine. The rest of the carrier is in GREAT shape. The need is URGENT; we leave for the States in 3 weeks. Praying for 10 partners to give $400, we could get this done. The Carrier is pictured below. PLEASE reply to the e-mail and we can tell you how you can help.

Thank you, Chet Caudill, Ty and Cina Silva and Joyce Kitano, for doing a GREAT job at the South Pacific Youth Conference. The youth of the islands were challenged, to say “Yes” to God’s call.

IT is difficult to find the right words to thank you for ALL that you have done to help us while we have been here. The Executive Committee of the Fiji Assemblies of God has asked Steve to return to Fiji for our next term, specifically to return as the President of the college. We are humbled. We stand amazed at what God can do and who he will use. MAYBE YOU’RE READING THIS AND YOU HAVE BEEN RUNNING FROM THE MISSIONS CALL. STOP RUNNING AWAY AND NOW RUN TOWARDS THE CALL. Answer His call!!!

Those of you who contacted us for ministry dates… Thank You. 2011 is almost full. Steve will be calling to fill the remaining calendar dates.

Steve heading home after a funeral. Pastor Pramod gave him a basket of food to take home. We like to call this, "Fiji foil".

Savannah and Seth are doing a skit at Savusavu Assembly of God church. Savannah is wearing a salwaar-kameez. Traditional Indian attire, actually made popular by the Muslims.

One afternoon we were out driving and saw these kids playing. They have wonderful smiles. Often you will see them carrying sugar cane or firewood on thier shoulders.

When driving in Fiji you will see people selling fruit on the side of the road. We stopped to get some bananas. When the kids saw Nola's hair they came running. Not very many Blondes here in Fiji.

Before moving to South Pacific Bible College we had an all-nighter with the Sunday school classes at Evangel Temple in Labasa. The kids sure enjoy puppets. We are going to have fun with the puppets on the main island. This team is practicing at our house.

Our friend Joseph with two of his goats. He is a good friend of Sam's.

Here is Seth, Sanjay, Susie and Steve going through boxes. We were able to take six boxes of neddles to the Labasa hospital. The comic books are for our "Kids Quest" outreaches.

The graduation class of 2006 had this sign built. From the sign to the Suva (our main town) is a 30 minute drive.

From the main road to the campus is a ten minute drive.

A bus comes every Friday afternon to pick up students from the campus then returns them on Monday afternoon. From the sign to the Suva (our main town) is a 30 minute drive.

We are now living on the “main island” (Viti Levu) on the campus of SPBC. What a huge change for us. Most of you are aware of how we moved when you received our Christmas letter!
For the New Year we went to Nadi and had a great time!

Savannah and Susie are doing great! They have their own house next to ours-- it is about five yards away. Their house is also the school room. Savannah is really picking up on the guitar and her painting. Susie is still playing her violin.

Seth has been getting ready for the track season. School starts in a couple of weeks for Fiji, which is when their track season is. Hopefully there will be a school that will let him run.

Nola has been pretty busy getting our house unpacked and with home schooling. Last night she was asked to teach a worship seminar later in the year. She will do a great job with that. Steve's office is set up. He is looking forward to teaching, "Methods of Bible Study".

As you step out of our front door and look towards Suva this is our view. We serve a mighty God!

South Pacific Bible College information

The school is over 40 years old (approximately 45)We have 12 nations representedEnrollment is 148 (Record enrollment)

It is a regional Training School. There were no other BA schools in the area until Samoa started one this year.

The need for building continues. There have been over 20 building projects on campus in the past 10 years and with the enrollment size, there are more needs.

Scholarships are a high priority as the economy in Fiji continues to decline, churches and individuals cannot make the fees.

Many of the students just can't continue without some help. Any amount helps. It does not have to be a full scholarship.

Thank you Corvallis Moving & Storage for all your help.

After staying with the Moore family, we are heading to the airport.

We took twenty pieces of luggage to Fiji. When we got to LAX we had to check our luggage again, what a great adventure!!

Chad (Beaver Believer) Jay (Husky Fan) Steve the Duck fan wearing WSU shirt I really like the Pac 10. Thanks guys for bringing your families to see us off. Two of my best friends, who are doing a great job with their families.

Shireen, Seth’s S.S teacher came to see us off at the airport, along with friends from CVC.

Thank you for all your prayers during our travel time. We thought you would enjoy these pictures! God is so good. We are all happy to be back in Fiji. More to come…. The Slater Six
